Indigenous ranger teams across the Kimberley, including Yawuru Country Managers, are leading the way in caring for wetlands. In partnership with Environs Kimberley and Kimberley Indigenous ranger teams, National Environmental Science Program (NESP) Resilient Landscapes Hub researchers at The University of Western Australia a are co-developing a Wetland Monitoring and Management Toolkit.

The toolkit supports Indigenous-led monitoring to measure wetland health including the outcomes of management actions. It showcases ranger-led methods and draws on both Indigenous and scientific knowledge systems to guide Healthy Country Planning work for wetlands. – and the lessons won’t stop in the Kimberley—outcomes will be shared with ranger teams, communities, and agencies across northern Australia, supporting Indigenous-led adaptive wetland management at a national scale.

Watch the video for more information and shout out to the amazing Yawuru Country Managers who feature. 🙌
