Hub researcher Dr Ro Hill from CSIRO was recently invited to give a theme keynote address at the Resilience 2017: Resilience Frontiers for Global Sustainability conference in Stockholm, Sweden. In her presentation, Dr Hill focused on working across knowledge systems, and highlighted some of the opportunities and challenges of connecting Indigenous and local knowledge with scientific knowledge for environmental stewardship. In the panel discussion that followed, Dr Hill shared her reflections on Indigenous worldviews and governance systems, and the ethics of care and reciprocity in relation to stewardship of country. Dr Hill and Melissa George (NAILSMA) are working with Traditional Owners in the Fitzroy (WA) and Nicholson (Gulf of Carpentaria) catchments as part of an exciting Northern Hub project to facilitate better use of Indigenous and scientific knowledge to care for, and meet local aspirations for, country.
