Indigenous researchers involved in the National Environmental Science Program got together at Canberra’s Questacon last week to present an engaging conversation on Indigenous scientific knowledge and practice. Speakers at the sold-out event discussed approaches to incorporating Indigenous knowledge and values into climate science, biodiversity, threatened species recovery, urban planning, land use and freshwater and marine ecology. Speakers also presented to school children in an afternoon session. David Hudson, a Ewamian-Western Yalanji man, provided a north Australian perspective and drew on his talents as an outstanding musician and performer (see more), and the evening was broadcast live on NITV’s Facebook page. David is collaborator in a Hub project led by Prof Natalie Stoeckl on evaluating Indigenous land management programs.
