Research outputs linked to policy change and decision-making
- Harry’s work in the Pilbara has focused on developing monitoring protocols for northern quolls (Dasyurus hallucatus) and bilbies (Macrotis lagotis), and on defining critical habitat to improve decision-making around mining impact assessments. This research has been used to support environmental approvals, guide regional fire planning, and prioritise habitat protection for threatened species in high-risk development zones.
- Harry’s research has addressed how northern Australian mammals respond to fire, with a focus on improving prescribed burning practices to benefit biodiversity. His findings on fire mosaics, long-unburnt refuges, and the integration of cultural burning are being used to support ongoing fire management.
- Harry’s recent work supports the Western Australian Government’s climate adaptation initiative by developing strategies to help threatened fauna adapt to a drying and warming climate. This includes identifying climate refugia, modelling future habitat shifts, and applying genomic tools to guide connectivity planning and climate-resilient conservation actions across fragmented landscapes in southwest WA.
