Two Hub researchers presented their work at the Australian Society of Fish Biology 2017 conference in Albany, WA, which wrapped up on Monday. Associate Professor Alison King and Dr Krystle Keller explained different aspects of the Northern Hub project that is looking at environmental flows and water needs in the Northern Territory’s Daly River. A/Prof King’s presentation emphasised the importance of both wet and dry season flows of the Daly on freshwater fish recruitment patterns, while Dr Keller’s presentation examined the patterns of habitat use of several native fish species in the river. Both of their analyses are drawing on long term datasets from the Daly River collected by the Tropical Rivers and Coastal Knowledge consortium – datasets which are proving invaluable for water allocation planning in the region.
