Food for thought

1 July 2019

Hub leader Michael Douglas was recently invited to present in a special session on Biocultural Approaches in Freshwater Conservation at the Society for Freshwater Science conference in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA.

His presentation Food for thought: Ecological and socio-cultural requirements for water resource development and food production in northern Australia, co-authored with project leader Professor Sue Jackson of Griffith University, made the case for re-framing conversations about the sustainable development of northern water resources to include consideration of how this water is already being used to support healthy river ecosystems, Indigenous livelihoods, and recreational and commercial fisheries.
