Northern Hub researchers migrate south for the build-up

The Hub had a big week at the Ecological Society of Australia annual conference in Launceston last week. Besides sharing an exhibitor table with the Threatened Species Recovery Hub – which proved to be a ‘hub’ for NESP scientists at the conference – many Hub researchers gave presentations and led workshops throughout the week.

Michael Douglas, Emma Woodward and Ro Hill kicked things off on Monday morning in the Ecologists Weaving Knowledge on Country session. Michael was joined by Mona Liddy, Kurt Liddy and Lawrie Corrigan Jnr, Wagiman Traditional Owners from the Daly River region, for a presentation in the afternoon Indigenous Ecological Knowledge session.

On Thursday, Michael, Mona and Kurt contributed to the Research Protocols and the Changing Nature of Working On Country workshop while Caroline Canham presented in the Aquatic Fresh session. Presentations from Leah Beesley in the Quantitative Ecology – Demography and Dynamics session and Alan Andersen in the Restoration session on Friday rounded out the week.
