A universally accepted system of classifying riverscapes (i.e. a geomorphic river classification scheme) does not exist for the tropical north of Australia. This project has developed such a classification and so provides an understanding of the diversity of riverscapes in northern Australia. It has provided a rational basis for extrapolating limited, site-specific data collected in the TRaCK program to the rest of the wet-dry tropics.
The project was led by Dr Andrew Brooks from the Australian Rivers Institute (ARI) at Griffith University. Dr Brooks was supported by scientists at the ARI and the Australian National University in Canberra.
