Bio
As a research officer at Curtin, Carly assists in the development of the web-based platform that will aid Indigenous rangers’ decision making and provide essential guidance on environmental monitoring practices. Her focus is on developing existing standard operating procedures into appropriate formats to populate the platform.
Carly is an ecologist who has previously worked in state government and NGOs, primarily in on – ground threatened species conservation, monitoring and management. With honours in conservation biology and master’s in environmental management and development, she is now pursuing a PhD in chuditch ecology and implications of management actions in a drying climate.
Research outputs linked to policy change and decision-making:
- WA Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (Western Shield): Investigation into the decline of chuditch (Dasyurus geoffroii) in the south-west of Western Australia.
- WA Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (Animal Science, Biodiversity and Conservation Science): Assessment of the distribution and status of the heath mouse (Pseudomys shortridgei) in Western Australia.
