What are your research interests as they relate to northern Australia?

I’m currently working at the social, environmental and economic interface, particularly as it relates to northern Australians achieving their development aspirations. For the Northern Hub, I’ve been involved in a project evaluating the social and economic benefits of Indigenous land management programs, with case study areas in the west Kimberley and in north Queensland. I’m now helping to better understand opportunities for fee-for-service investments in Indigenous cultural and natural resource management.

What do you love about working in northern Australia?

It’s home! I also think there’s lots of opportunities to apply lessons from elsewhere to what we do in northern Australia. Similarly, there’s a lot that the rest of Australia could learn from the north! There’s still lots of opportunity to create the type of future that we want in northern Australia, so it’s an exciting place to be working.
