Bio

  • NESP Resilient Landscapes Hub, knowledge brokering and communications (KB&C) team. As part of the KB&C team, Owen to helps facilitate knowledge sharing between the hub’s researchers, Traditional Owners, land managers and policy-makers, helping new knowledge be put to use in protecting Australian landscapes by affecting policy change and land management practices. Owen helps the communication between researchers and end-users at every stage of the research process. A collaborative, co-creative approach to research helps to ensure that the needs of all parties are met and that the diversity of knowledges are incorporated into research design, strengthening the effectiveness and equitability of  research outcomes. Owen assists the KB&C team to produce graphics, animations, videos, photos, web resources, factsheets, workshops and on-Country presentations to communicate research processes and findings.

What are your interests as they relate to resilient landscapes?

  • As the hub’s research communications officer, Owen wants to help research have the most beneficial impact it can. Ensuring that different knowledges are shared at each stage of research will help to improve environmental management and policy for everyone.

What do you love about working in Australian landscapes?

  • The uniqueness and beauty of Australian environments, hiking, swimming, and camping in places like no other.
