What are your interests as they relate to northern Australia?

My research interests as they relate to northern Australia are primarily to do with environmental-economic accounting. In particular trying to understand how to best capture the natural inter-seasonal variation of wet and dry cycles and how they affect the inundation extent, river connectivity and water quality for fish species at different life stages. Another focus is on the inter-connectivity between environmental assets that together provide us with a suite of ecosystem services we benefit from.

What do you love about working in northern Australia?

I love working in northern Australia, but particularly on the Mitchell River catchment, because it is still relatively undisturbed and unmodified by humans and being such a large catchment it covers such a diverse range of ecosystems. The Mitchell catchment also has an excellent foundation of scientific work for us to build on.
