Dr Nicole Hansen is an applied ecologist, with an environmental industry, government, and science background, whose broad research and career interests relate to matrix ecology, integrated pest management, threatened species conservation and management, and developing decision-making tools and approaches to support outcome focussed, and cost-effective conservation.
Her experience with multi-stakeholder engagement, including community consultation and all levels of Government is extensive, having worked closely with and for these agencies and groups for many years to ensure program and project approaches are collaborative, strategic, and fit for purpose.
She is a Principal Advisor (Biodiversity and Knowledge) in the Science and Information Branch, Department for Environment and Water (DEW), Government of South Australia, with previous roles in the delivery of conservation projects within New South Wales, Victoria, and the Australian Capital Territory.
Her role provides technical advice and strategic direction for DEW’s science programs and facilitates collaborative research partnerships to support evidence-based policy, and Government priorities related to biodiversity and nature conservation.
