Bio

Dr Sheryn Brodie is an ecologist interested in animal vocal behaviour and the application of acoustic recording methods to species population monitoring and conservation. Sheryn is currently a postdoctoral research fellow at James Cook University. In this role, her work involves investigating and assessing the detectability of forest birds on Christmas Island using acoustic recordings to inform the design and methods for a long-term acoustic monitoring program.

Research outputs linked to policy and decision-making

  • Dr Brodie contributed to research investigating the links between biodiversity and land condition on cattle grazing properties in northern Queensland. This research provided biodiversity data from several large-scale survey methods to pastoralists and land managers to inform better land management practices.
