It’s NAIDOC Week and this year’s host city is Cairns in tropical north Qld. This week we are highlighting our research projects that are collaborating closely with Indigenous organisations across the north. We have projects underway that are making Indigenous knowledge and science more accessible and useful to Indigenous decision makers, better valuing Indigenous land management programs, supporting Indigenous natural resource management and improving how we can include Indigenous values in water allocation planning. Completed projects have identified lessons and protocols for Indigenous fire management partnerships, investigated waste and marine debris issues in remote northern Australian communities and identified research priorities for the north’s Indigenous Protected Areas.
