What are your research interests as they relate to northern Australia?
I am interested in connectivity between systems such as floodplain and river channel and how these relationships change with human intervention. I am fascinated by the threat posed to biodiversity by introduced species, how we can manage them or exploit them as a resource.
What do you love about working in northern Australia?
I love working in Kakadu National Park’s unique escarpment billabongs because of their cultural and ecological significance to the area. Working with animals that have been utilized for hundreds of generations under the watchful eye of ancient escarpment is special to me. Northern Australia is a biodiversity hotspot for freshwater fish. When working on the waterways up here, you never know what you will find.
